The Maltese Islands consist of Malta, Gozo and Comino,
situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea between Europe and North Africa. Malta is
a European country and a prospective member of the European Union. Malta lies 100
kilometers south of Sicily and 290 kilometers from North Africa. The total area of the
Maltese Islands is 316 square kilometers with the capital city being Valletta. Our official languages are Maltese and English but most of the Maltese verse very well in Italian. The population lies around 370,000 inhabitants. Malta has a parliamentary democracy with elections held every five years. Maltas strategic position, reliability and quality enables it to act as a major commercial hub between Europe and North Africa.
